Course Details

This is a 12 part, practical course that focuses on the basics of music production and sampling practice. The course will show you the basics of the online program including setting up, finding chords and samples and recording. 

The aim is to get you comfortable with studio techniques on a simplified program and give you the knowledge and confidence to work independently. 

Overall, by the end of this course, you should have a better understanding of music production on Bandlab and how to construct a song that suits your style. If by the end of this, you have recorded and mixed your own song that YOU composed, then call yourself a music producer!

Course Materials Required...

  • A quiet room where you feel safe to be creative with no judgement
  • A laptop or desktop computer (both these preferred) OR a phone with a headphone jack
  • Internet connection
  • Headphones
  • About 30 mins per video to work on your own


Who is it for and what to expect...

This course is for you if you have an interest in music production. It will:
  • Introduce you to the basics of music production and sampling on a piece of free software
  • Support you to develop creative ideas and play with production techniques
  • Introduce you to the basics of audio recording
  • Familiarise you with music audio production terms
  • Hopefully help you to feel more confident and creative with technology

    Becci Wallace

    Becci Wallace is a songwriter, performer, producer, and music tutor based in Glasgow with over 20 years of experience in community music. 

    Becci is also a Commercial Music lecturer at UWS and mentor, with a passion for helping new artists develop their skills and voices.

    She is currently working on her third album with Scottish hip-hop producer Steg G, and completing a PhD focused on hip-hop education and its impact on young people.

    As a neurodivergent artist with ADHD, Becci gets that everyone’s brain works differently. She brings this awareness into her practice, always aiming to create welcoming, supportive spaces where participants feel safe to be themselves and explore their ideas in their own way.
